The Hawk Ridge Golf Club will soon host this celebration on May 14th.
These celebrations are crucial threads in the local fabric, highlighting stories of unwavering dedication and selfless action. The Orillia Business Women’s Association awards underscore remarkable achievements, fostering community pride and motivating others. This year, five outstanding women are nominated for the 2025 Woman of the Year, each a beacon of leadership.
Kelsea Dale, with entrepreneurial flair, founded Royal Paws Pet Services, carving a niche as a pet wedding chaperone in Simcoe County. Her early business acumen, demonstrated by a dog-walking venture at eleven, is complemented by her dedication to the Down Syndrome Association of Simcoe County and her consistent support for animal welfare through generous donations.
Laura Clayton Dickson, a Harvey’s franchisee, masterfully blends business acumen with profound community spirit. Her memorable 15th anniversary “buy one, give one” initiative, which provided 450 hamburgers to non-profits, and steadfast support for groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Lighthouse reflect a deep commitment to enriching Orillia.
Raquel Ness of Ness Law shines as a leader professionally and within the community, known for her team motivation and civic contributions. Her leadership as Chair of the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation board and as past president of the Orillia Chamber of Commerce demonstrates her deep investment in the region’s healthcare and overall prosperity.
Pamela Paylor, a Registered Nurse, channels her professional care into extensive volunteerism. She champions adaptive snowsports, supports local ecology with the Mariposa Pollinators and the Couchiching Conservancy, and was pivotal in installing an Automated External Defibrillator at Grant Woods, showcasing her dedication to community well-being and safety.
Linda Reid, Executive Director of Green Haven Shelter for Women and Children, is a steadfast advocate for vulnerable individuals. By founding Dress for Success Orillia/Barrie, which has aided over 4,000 women, and championing a living wage, she tirelessly promotes empowerment, social justice, and works towards ending gender-based violence within the community.
The Hawk Ridge Golf Club will host the gala, an evening poised for heartfelt celebration as the community gathers to applaud these extraordinary women. The announcement of the Orillia Woman of the Year by the Orillia Business Women’s Association is eagerly awaited. More than an individual prize, this award highlights the significant impact of leadership and service. Each nominee strengthens Orillia, inspiring others.
